| Beschrijving keerzijde | Athenian owl (Athena noctua) standing in three-quarter facing position to the right, with head turned to face the viewer, rendered with fine feather detail on the wings and body. An olive sprig with leaves appears to the upper left of the owl, and a crescent moon is visible to the right. The ethnic inscription AΘE appears in the right field in archaic Greek characters. Below the owl, a small symbol or control mark is present. The design closely follows the canonical 'owl' type of Athenian silver coinage, here executed in gold for emergency wartime use. |
