Obverse description At the left end of the bar, a struck oval punch bearing the crowned royal arms of Portugal flanked by the mint letters 'O' and 'A' (for Vila do Sabará) within a milled border. The main field bears stamped legends indicating the bar number (N 1475), date (1818), assayer's initials, fineness (TOQUE 22), and weight expressed in oitavas and grains (5 · 2 · 24).
