Gold 1/4 Stater - Tasciovanos Pegasus

Tasciovanos ruled the Catuvellauni from roughly the late first century BC into the early first century AD, operating from Verulamium — modern St Albans — and at times pushing into Trinovantian territory around Camulodunum. His coinage is notably diverse in both type and denomination, suggesting a deliberate monetary program rather than ad hoc production. The quarter stater was the workhorse of high-value small transactions in this region, and Tasciovanos issued more distinct types than virtually any other late Iron Age ruler in Britain.

ABC 2601 is among the scarcer of his fractional gold issues.
