The Corieltauvi occupied a territory roughly corresponding to the modern East Midlands, and their coinage developed later than that of southern British tribes, likely accelerated by cross-channel trade networks rather than direct Gaulish political pressure. The scyphate — concave — flan on this quarter stater is an unusual feature for British Celtic gold; most Corieltavian issues are relatively flat, and the cause of this particular curvature remains debated, with some attributing it to die pressure and flan preparation rather than intentional design.
ABC 1770 is among the scarcer Corieltauvi fractions.
