| Obverse description | Youthful male head facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic modeling of the facial features. The hair is depicted in wavy, voluminous locks swept back from the forehead and arranged in layered curls, with what appears to be a laurel wreath or floral crown adorning the top of the head. The face displays a sensitively engraved eye, aquiline nose, and slightly parted lips, characteristic of the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Populonia. The numeral X, denoting the value of 10 asses, appears to the left of the bust in the field. |
