| Obverse description | Front-facing bearded effigy of Emperor Constans II, crowned and wearing imperial loros, holding a cross-topped scepter (long cross) in his right hand. The portrait is rendered in the formal hieratic Byzantine style characteristic of mid-seventh-century coinage. A Latin legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading DN CONSTANTI, abbreviated from Dominus Noster Constantinus.
