| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a large ornate quartered coat of arms of the Gonzaga dynasty, supported by two rampant lions as heraldic supporters flanking the shield. The complex escutcheon displays the combined arms of Mantua and Monferrato, surmounted by a ducal crown. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, reading the duke's full title, enclosed within a beaded border. The die-work is characteristic of late sixteenth-century Italian hammered coinage, with bold relief on the heraldic devices and irregular flan edges typical of the period. |

| Reverse description | Full-length standing figure of Saint Barbara facing slightly left, draped in flowing robes and crowned, holding a martyr's palm frond in her right hand. To her left stands her traditional attribute, a three-tiered tower, rendered in fine detail. The figure is depicted within the open field of the coin, with the circular Latin legend SANCTA BARBARA distributed around the periphery, punctuated by six-pointed star stops. The overall composition is characteristic of Italian Renaissance devotional iconography as rendered on hammered silver coinage of the Gonzaga duchy. |
