附加信息

Raymond Bérenger served as Grand Master of the Hospitallers from 1365 to 1374, a period when Rhodes functioned as the Order's primary naval base and commercial hub in the eastern Mediterranean. The gigliato — a denomination borrowed directly from the Angevin coinage of Naples — had been adopted by the Hospitallers decades earlier precisely because it was already trusted currency across Levantine trade networks. Bérenger's issues continued that monetary policy without interruption.

Schlumberger's cataloguing of Hospitaller coinage remains the foundational reference for this series, though attributions within the gigliato sequence are complicated by the Order's habit of continuing predecessor dies after a change of Grand Master.
