| Reverse description | A bold floriated cross with trefoil (lily) terminals occupies the centre of the field, its four arms extending nearly to the inner beaded circle. At the tip of each arm is placed the shield of the Order of Saint John — bearing a plain cross — rendered as a small escutcheon, giving the design a strongly heraldic character consistent with the gigliato type established under earlier Grand Masters. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the circumferential legend in Gothic uncial lettering, introduced by a cross pattée and punctuated by pellets. |
