| 表面の説明 | Crowned and enthroned effigy of King Fernando I facing forward, robed in royal regalia and holding a sceptre in the right hand, flanked by elaborate Gothic architectural elements including turrets and pinnacles. The throne is depicted in a highly stylized Gothic manner typical of Iberian medieval coinage. The royal legend in Latin encircles the design within a beaded border. |

Fernando I's early gold issues from Porto remain among the least-documented of his reign. The Porto mint was subordinate to Lisbon in output terms, and Fernando's monetary policy was already under stress from the wars with Castile that consumed the first decade of his rule — the first Fernandine War began in 1369, effectively bookending this issue's production window at its close.
The *gentil* denomination itself was adopted from French and English models circulating in Iberian trade networks. Porto's output of this type was limited enough that Gomes catalogued relatively few die variants from this mint versus Lisbon.
