| Reverse description | At center, a cross pattée is displayed within a polylobed border decorated with trefoils and rosettes, enclosed by a beaded or reeded inner circle. The cross pattée, with its splayed arms of equal length, is finely executed in the hammered style typical of medieval Genoese gold coinage. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial script invokes the nominal suzerainty of Conrad, King of the Romans, a ceremonial reference maintained on Genoese coinage for centuries, and is concluded by a mint official's initial. |
