| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field bears a cross pattée set within a multilobed polylobe frame adorned with trefoils and rosettes, consistent in decorative vocabulary with the obverse. A circular Latin legend in uncial script surrounds the device, invoking the nominal Genoese suzerain Conrad, King of the Romans; the legend terminates with the initial of a mint official. |

George Adorno served as Doge of Genoa for a mere two years before the city's chronic factional instability — the endless war between the Adorno and Fregoso clans — ended his tenure in 1415. The genovino itself was one of the earliest gold coins struck in the Latin West, introduced in 1252, and by Adorno's time the type had survived nearly two centuries of Genoese political turbulence largely unchanged in standard, a monetary consistency that outlasted almost every doge who authorized its striking.
