Obverse description The allegorical figure of the Genius of the Republic stands in right profile, inscribing a blank tablet resting on a cippus. To the left of the figure rises a vertical fasces surmounted by a hand of justice, while a rooster stands to the right, both serving as symbols of the French Republic. The engraver's cursive signature 'A. B. Dupré' appears in the lower field beneath the cippus. The circular legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' and the word 'CONSTITUTION' frame the composition, rendered in raised Latin lettering. The design is executed in the Neoclassical style characteristic of Augustin Dupré's late eighteenth-century work.
