| Opis rewersu | Highly stylised fire altar depicted in cruciform (cross-shaped) plan, a degenerated rendition of the Sasanian altar-with-attendants prototype. The central cross form is encircled by a border of lines, which is in turn surrounded by a ring of pellets (dots), replacing the zoomorphic or human attendant figures of the original Sasanian design. The overall composition retains the hierarchical structure of the prototype while reducing figural elements to purely geometric and ornamental forms. |
