Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Louis XIII facing right, wearing a lace collar and royal mantle, with curled hair and a small ruff. The king's effigy is rendered in a late Renaissance style with fine detail in the drapery and armor. The circular legend surrounding the portrait reads LVDOVIC. XIII. D: G. FRANC. ET. NAVA. REX, identifying the king as Louis XIII, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre. The mint mark appears in the lower portion of the field.
