The inscription is executed in angular Kufic script typical of late 4th-century AH Islamic coinage. A concentric outer marginal legend band encircles the central field, separated by a plain linear border. The flan is irregular and slightly scalloped at the edges, characteristic of hammered fractional dirhams of this period. The overall style reflects the Abbasid-derived epigraphic coinage tradition maintained by the Sharifs of Mecca. |
