Reverse description Irregular hammered gold flan with a central rectangular cartouche containing Arabic legends in three lines, surrounded by a partial beaded border visible along the upper arc of the coin. The inscription names the Prophet Muhammad and the issuing ruler Yusuf Sufi, asserting dynastic authority in the traditional Islamic formula. The lettering is boldly executed in an angular style consistent with Central Asian hammered coinage of the fourteenth century. The field outside the cartouche is flat and granular in texture. The strike is slightly off-center, as is common for coins of this type and period.
