Obverse description Central field occupied by multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged in three or four registers, typical of Andalusian taifa coinage of the 11th century. The inscription, struck on a small irregular flan, proclaims the religious formula and the name or title of the ruler al-Mu'tadid. The coin exhibits the characteristic dense, angular Kufic lettering of Abbadid gold fractional issues, with no figural imagery. The flan is irregular and slightly wavy at the edges, consistent with hammered production techniques of the period. The field shows minor flatness at the periphery due to the small module of the flan relative to the die.
