Obverse description A plain short cross with splayed terminals occupies the center of the field, enclosed within a raised inner circle. Surrounding the inner circle is a retrograde Latin legend reading ANTIOCHIA, arranged around the periphery. The overall style is characteristic of Crusader hammered coinage, with an irregular flan and somewhat crude die workmanship typical of the Antiochene mint in the early thirteenth century.
