Obverse description Central square hole surrounded by a plain raised rim on both inner and outer edges. Four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu) arranged in the traditional reading order — top, bottom, right, left — occupying the four quadrants around the central perforation. The characters are cast in moderate relief against a flat, unadorned field, typical of Yuan dynasty fractional cash coinage.
