The composition conveys the divine legitimation of Constantine's rule through the transfer of Victorious power under Jovian patronage, a standard iconographic formula of the Tetrarchic period. The Latin legend CONCORDIA MILITVM, meaning 'Harmony of the Soldiers,' encircles the scene, emphasising loyalty between emperor and army. The exergue bears the mint mark ALE for Alexandria, with an officina letter in the centre field designating the specific workshop. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design. |
