| 裏面の説明 | Vetranio, clad in full military attire, stands facing with head turned to the left. In his raised right hand he holds a Chi-Rho-inscribed standard (labarum), a prominent Christian symbol adopted by Constantine; his left hand rests upon a large round shield set on the ground at his side. The reverse legend VIRTVS EXERCITVM appears in the field, attesting to the martial virtues of the army. The exergue carries the Thessalonica mint mark (TES followed by an officina letter). The composition is characteristic of the military imagery employed by usurpers seeking to legitimize their authority through association with Constantinian iconography. |
