Reverse description The Emperor strides to the right, head turned back to the left, grasping a bound captive by the hair with his raised right hand while holding a Chi-Rho labarum standard in his left. The composition conveys Roman military dominance over barbarian peoples, a standard late Roman iconographic theme. The reverse legend GLORIA ROMANORVM runs along the upper and lateral periphery. A mintmark appears in the exergue identifying the Thessalonica mint and its officina. The type corresponds to one of several officina varieties struck at Thessalonica between 364 and 367 under Valentinian I.
Reverse script Latin

(Translation: Gloria Romanorum: `To the Glory of the Romans`.)
