Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valens facing right, rendered in the late Roman style typical of the Valentinianic period. The emperor wears a pearl diadem and military pauldron with visible fibula at the right shoulder. The portrait is bold and slightly stylized, characteristic of provincial mint output from Aquileia. The encircling obverse legend reads DN VALENS PF AVG, distributed around the bust in capital Latin letters.
