Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Valens, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with fine detail in the paludamentum fastening visible at the shoulder. The portrait conveys a strong, mature imperial effigy with closely cropped beard and elaborately jewelled diadem. The obverse legend encircles the bust, running from lower left to upper right. The field is slightly concave, typical of Siscia mint production of this period.
