Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinianus II facing right, shown in the late Roman imperial manner with a pearl diadem. The effigy is rendered in low relief typical of the smaller AE coinage of the Theodosian period. The surrounding field is bounded by a beaded border. The obverse legend reads D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Valentinianus, Pius Felix Augustus.
