| Obverse description | Frontal bust of Saint Peter rendered in a crude Byzantine-influenced style, depicted facing, wearing episcopal vestments with a distinctive beaded or jeweled collar. The saint holds a patriarchal cross before him with both hands, the cross rising prominently in the central field. The figure is framed by two flanking inscription fragments identifying the subject, characteristic of the Crusader adoption of Byzantine iconographic conventions. The overall style is archaic and schematic, reflecting the limited die-cutting resources available to the early Crusader mints of Antioch. |
