| Reverse description | Four lines of Greek inscription fill the field, reading KЄ BOHΘ / PIKΔP / ΔW (Kyrie Boethei Rikard, meaning 'Lord, help Richard'), invoking divine aid for Richard of Salerno, regent of Edessa 1104–1108. The letters are boldly struck in a somewhat irregular, provincial style within a dotted border. The inscription follows the Byzantine votive formula common to Crusader copper coinage of the period. The flan is irregular, with the reverse exhibiting areas of copper patina visible between the legend lines. |
