Reverse description Four lines of Greek inscription fill the reverse field within a dotted circular border, reading KЄ BOHΘ / PIKΔP / ΔW, constituting a supplicatory formula meaning 'Lord, help Richard,' invoking divine aid for the regent Richard of Salerno. The lettering is bold and somewhat crudely executed in the hammered style typical of Crusader copper coinage of the early twelfth century. No figurative design is present; the entire reverse surface is occupied by the votive legend arranged in horizontal lines.
