背面描述 The reverse depicts Jupiter standing facing left, extending his right hand to present a Victory on globe to Maximianus, who stands opposite facing right in military dress, receiving the figure. Jupiter holds a sceptre or long staff in his left hand, symbolising divine authority, while Maximianus is shown in full military attire. The scene conveys the Tetrarchic theological programme linking the emperors to divine sanction. The Latin legend CONCORDIA MILITVM encircles the field, divided by the figures, with the mint mark ALE inscribed in the exergue, identifying the Alexandria mint. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design.

附加信息

Maximianus issued this series in the immediate aftermath of Diocletian's tetrarchic reforms of 293 AD, when the empire was reorganized around four co-rulers specifically to address the military fragmentation that had plagued the third century. The CONCORDIA MILITVM type was a direct propaganda response to that instability — the message aimed squarely at soldiers whose loyalties had made and destroyed emperors for decades.

The Alexandria mint resumed large-scale bronze production under the tetrarchy after a period of issuing the distinctive Egyptian tetradrachm. RIC VI 46b places this piece among the earlier Alexandria folles, before the mint mark conventions fully stabilized.
