Obverse description Frontal bust of Emperor Leo V in three-quarter view, wearing an imperial crown adorned with pendilia and the jewelled loros draped across the chest in the traditional Byzantine fashion. The emperor holds a cross potent in his right hand, a symbol of imperial and divine authority. The effigy is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of ninth-century Syracusan mint production, with bold if somewhat crude engraving. The fields are plain and largely devoid of inscriptions, consistent with the abbreviated style of late Macedonian-era provincial bronze coinage.

Reverse description Frontal bust of the co-emperor Constantine Symbatios, crowned and wearing the imperial chlamys fastened at the right shoulder, holding a globus cruciger in his right hand as a symbol of shared imperial sovereignty. A cross appears to the right of the figure in the field. The portrait displays the characteristic flat and schematic style of the Syracuse mint during the reign of Leo V, with relatively coarse die-cutting typical of provincial bronze issues of this period. The overall composition mirrors the obverse in its hieratic frontality, emphasizing the dynastic legitimacy of the joint reign.
