Obverse description Facing busts of Leo V (left) and his son and co-emperor Constantine Symbatios (right), both shown in frontal military dress with loros and imperial crowns surmounted by a cross; the figures are rendered in the characteristically flat, hieratic Byzantine style. Leo, the larger and more prominent figure, is depicted wearing a crown adorned with pendilia, while Constantine appears slightly smaller to his right, reflecting their relative imperial rank. The surrounding field bears the Greek legend LЄOҺ S COҺST identifying the two co-rulers. The flan is irregular and the strike shows typical wear of circulating hammered coinage of the period.
