Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Jovianus facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style typical of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor wears a pearl diadem and a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with visible armor beneath. The obverse legend DN IOVIANVS PF AVG (Dominus Noster Iovianus Pius Felix Augustus) encircles the effigy. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-center, characteristic of this brief reign's provincial hammered coinage. The surface carries a reddish-brown patina with areas of green encrustation consistent with prolonged burial.
