Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Honorius facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The legend DN HONORIVS PF AVG (Dominus Noster Honorius Pius Felix Augustus) runs around the circumference. The portrait displays the youthful features associated with Honorius, who acceded as a child emperor. The flan is small and irregular, typical of the reduced AE4 coinage of the late fourth century. Surface patination obscures some detail but the imperial effigy remains identifiable.
