| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gratian, adorned with a pearl diadem, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The effigy is depicted with careful attention to the layered drapery and cuirass detail, though the die work reflects the reduced artistic standards of the late fourth century AE coinage. The circumferential obverse legend runs clockwise around the bust within the coin's irregular flan. Surfaces exhibit an olive-green patina consistent with prolonged burial, with areas of exposed copper-red metal visible on the high relief of the portrait. |
