| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Diocletianus facing right, rendered with fine engraving detail showing a bearded portrait with strong, individualized features typical of Tetrarchic portraiture. The laureate wreath is boldly rendered with prominent leaves projecting from the brow. The surrounding Latin legend reads IMP DIOCLETIANVS PF AVG, running clockwise along the coin's border, which is framed by a beaded rim. The bust truncation is visible at the lower field, and the overall style reflects the vigorous, somewhat abstracted portraiture characteristic of the Diocletianic reform coinage. |
