| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Arcadius facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style. The diadem is pearl-strung, consistent with tetrarchic and post-Constantinian conventions. The surrounding legend reads DN ARCADIVS PF AVG, appearing either without caesura (ARCADIVS, RIC 39c) or with caesura after the fourth letter (ARCADI-VS, RIC 39d). The effigy reflects the standardized portraiture of the Theodosian dynasty, emphasizing imperial dignity and divine favour. |
