Reverse description Ornate jeweled cross occupying the full field, with flared terminals decorated with pellets and beaded crossbar, set upon a stepped base. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms each contain one letter of the acclamation IC XC NI KA, arranged clockwise from the upper left. The cross is elaborately ornamented with rows of pellets along its arms, conveying the rich Byzantine decorative tradition. A dotted border encircles the entire reverse design. The composition is bold and deeply struck, consistent with the Class C anonymous folles attributed to the reign of Michael IV.
