Obverse description The Virgin Mary (Madonna) enthroned and facing forward, crowned with a high ornate crown, holding the Christ Child in her right arm, seated upon a crescent moon. Decorative floral or foliate ornaments appear on either side of the enthroned figure, and the Jagiellonian eagle of the Polish-Jagiellon dynasty is depicted below in the field. The design is executed in the late Gothic hammered style typical of Hungarian royal florins of the early sixteenth century.

Reverse description Saint László (Ladislaus), the canonized King of Hungary, depicted full-length and facing forward in royal vestments, holding a long-handled battle axe (halberd) in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his left. The mintmaster's initials K and H (or K and G depending on year) flank the figure at either side of the field, serving as the mint mark. The surrounding legend names the saint-king, and the date of issue appears within the inscription. The figure is rendered in the characteristic late medieval hammered style consistent with Hungarian gold florins of the Jagiellon period.
