| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold quadrilobe cross with fleuronné terminals occupies the central field, its four arms radiating outward to divide the inner circle into four lobes, each containing a prominent fleur-de-lis rendered in high relief. The cross is elaborately ornamented with trefoil and quatrefoil foliage at its extremities, consistent with the refined Gothic metalwork style of mid-14th-century French coinage. A beaded inner border frames the central device, beyond which the circumferential Latin legend is inscribed. The overall composition reflects the strong royal and religious symbolism characteristic of the Valois monetary programme under Philippe VI. |
