| Obverse description | Full-length facing figure of Saint John the Baptist standing in the field, clad in flowing robes, his right hand raised in blessing and his left holding a lamb or book, rendered in the Gothic style typical of Aragonese florins. A small heraldic shield appears to the left of the figure. The peripheral legend in Latin reads S IOHANNES B, identifying the patron saint. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and bold relief of hammered medieval gold coinage. |
