Obverse description A large Florentine-style fleur-de-lys occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with characteristic crosshatched lateral petals and a tall central petal rising boldly above. The fleur-de-lys rests on a decorative base of trefoil-form scrolls. A circular legend surrounds the device, reading FRANTIA in uncial Latin characters, separated by small ornamental stops. The overall style closely follows the Florentine florin type, adapted for French royal coinage of the Languedoc region.
