| Obverse description | Bare-headed draped bust of Philip IV of Spain facing left, rendered in low relief in the hammered style typical of Neapolitan copper coinage. The Latin legend PHILIPP IIII . D. G. R runs along the upper periphery, with the regnal numeral expressed in the archaic IIII form. The date, where present, appears at the end of the legend. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-struck production. |
