Obverse description Truncated bust of Ferdinand von Zeppelin facing three-quarters right, wearing a suit with bow tie, in high relief. The legend FERD. v. ZEPPELIN appears across the top of the field, with GEB. 1838 inscribed vertically along the left edge, and the maker's mark M.&W.ST. in the lower right field. In the exergue below a horizontal dividing line, a Zeppelin airship is depicted in low relief flying above a panoramic view of Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance.
