Reverse description A large St. Edward's Crown is centrally depicted in high relief, surmounted by a cross pattée and flanked by the date 1936 divided on either side. The crown is encircled by an elaborate wreath composed of Tudor roses, Scottish thistles, Irish shamrocks, and Welsh leeks — the four emblems of the constituent nations of the United Kingdom — rendered in fine naturalistic detail. The circumferential legend in abbreviated Latin is separated by rhomboid stops, and the word TRIAL appears in small lettering within the inner field to the lower left of the crown. The whole is contained within a beaded border with a reeded rim.
