| Additional information |
Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936 before any circulating coinage bearing his effigy was released to the public, making him the only 20th-century British monarch without an official currency issue. A small number of pattern and trial pieces were struck at the Royal Mint during his reign — including the original Wreath Crown — but these never progressed beyond internal approval stages. This 2017 piece is a modern fantasy restrike evoking that suppressed series, not a period artifact.
