| 裏面の説明 | A large, ornately detailed St. Edward's Crown occupies the central field, surrounded by a wreath composed of the national floral emblems of the United Kingdom: Tudor roses for England, thistles for Scotland, shamrocks for Ireland, and leeks for Wales, all rendered in fine relief. The date 1936 appears on either side of the crown within the wreath. The word TRIAL is inscribed vertically to the left of the crown within the inner field. The peripheral Latin legend reads · FID · · DEF · · IND · · IMP · in the upper arc and · EDW · VIII · in the lower arc, separated by decorative stops, all contained within a beaded border. |

Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936 before any circulation coinage bearing his effigy was officially struck for Britain, making every piece with his portrait a pattern, fantasy, or retrospective issue. The "Wreath" Crown design is itself historically loaded — the original 1937 version was prepared in anticipation of a coronation that never happened, and the handful of genuine 1937 patterns that do exist are among the most politically sensitive objects in British numismatics. This 2017 nickel silver trial is a modern fantasy restrike, not a period piece.
