Additional information

Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936 before any coins bearing his effigy entered circulation, meaning no official British crown was ever struck for public use during his reign. The "Wreath" crown design he personally approved — and which he preferred over the traditional crowned portrait — became one of numismatics' great what-ifs. This 2017 piece is a modern fantasy strike, produced to imagine what that unrealized issue might have looked like, with no pretense of official Royal Mint origin.
