| 正面描述 | Bare-headed effigy of King Edward VIII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and strong facial features characteristic of the proposed 1936 portrait. The engraver's initials DRG appear incuse at the base of the truncation. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust close to the milled border, reading from lower left through the top of the field. |

Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936 before any circulating coinage bearing his effigy entered production, leaving a complete gap in the official British series. Struck pieces from his reign are genuine patterns and proofs authorized by the Royal Mint; what emerged afterward, across decades, was a cottage industry of "fantasy" issues produced by private mints capitalizing on collector appetite for the reign-that-wasn't. This piece, struck in 2000 and catalogued by Giordano, belongs firmly in that latter category — no official standing, no Royal Mint involvement.
The Giordano reference corpus documents numerous such fantasies across multiple metals and denominations.
