Beschrijving voorzijde Coloured central field depicting a tropical island scene: a radiant sun rising over the ocean, flanked by two palm trees, with a seagull in flight above and stylized ocean waves below. The scene is rendered in vivid polychrome enamel-style colour application on a brass flan. The circular legend reads 'FANNING ISLAND' at the top and 'TWENTY FIVE CENTS' at the bottom, both in bold serif lettering within a yellow border band. Decorative floral ornaments separate the two inscription segments at the sides.

Aanvullende informatie

Fanning Island — properly Tabuaeran — is part of the Line Islands group and sits roughly 1,500 kilometers south of Hawaii. It has no cattle population to speak of; the cow here is pure invention, part of a broader wave of fantasy coinages produced for the collector market under Pacific island nation names. Kiribati has authorized several such issues, trading on nominal sovereignty to generate licensing revenue. This piece has no circulation history and was never intended to have one.
